Alpha Innovate
A unified crypto dashboard built to feel powerful for pros and clear for newcomers
The brief
Where we started
Alpha Innovate needed a single investment platform interface that could serve institutional-style traders and everyday retail investors from the same dashboard — without diluting either experience.
Design one dashboard that scales from a first-time investor to an active day trader
Reduce the cognitive load of live market data without hiding the depth power users need
Deliver a developer-ready component system that supports rapid feature additions post-launch
The challenge
What we were up against
Alpha Innovate is a next-generation crypto investment platform targeting both retail and institutional traders. The challenge was designing a data-rich dashboard that felt powerful enough for professionals yet intuitive enough for newcomers — balancing complexity with clarity in a market where prices move (and attention spans break) in seconds.
Existing crypto dashboards tend to pick a side: either a clean, dumbed-down retail app with no depth, or a dense professional terminal that intimidates anyone without a trading background. Alpha Innovate wanted neither compromise — one product, two comfort levels.
3
core user journeys mapped before a single dashboard screen was drawn
What was at stake
Getting this wrong meant either scaring off newcomers with terminal-grade density, or losing serious traders to a platform that felt like a toy.
Our approach
How we tackled it
We mapped three key journeys before designing a single screen, so the dashboard architecture was built around real tasks, not a features list.
Step 1
User Flow Mapping
We mapped three key journeys — portfolio overview, token discovery, and trade execution — before designing a single screen, so the dashboard architecture was built around real tasks, not a features list.
Step 2
Dark, Focus-First UI
A dark UI with neon accent highlights reduces eye strain during long trading sessions while drawing attention to the data points that matter most: price movement, alerts, and P&L.
Step 3
Component System Design
Every chart, table, and card was built as a reusable component from day one, so new asset types and features could be added without re-designing the dashboard from scratch.
Step 4
Prototyping & Flow Testing
An interactive Figma prototype covering the full trade-execution flow let stakeholders validate the experience before a single line of frontend code was written.
The solution
The work, up close
The final UI covers the main dashboard with live portfolio tracking, token analytics pages with interactive charts, a swap/trade interface with order-book visualization, wallet management, and a notification center — every screen sharing one consistent component system.
The dashboard itself uses progressive disclosure: headline portfolio value and today's movement sit above the fold, with deeper analytics, historical performance, and asset breakdowns available one click down — so a newcomer isn't overwhelmed on login, and a power user is never more than a click from the depth they want.
The trade interface pairs a live order book with a simplified 'quick trade' panel, letting casual users execute a swap in two taps while advanced traders still get full order-type control.
Progressive Portfolio Dashboard
Headline numbers up top, drill-down analytics one click deeper — the same screen serves a first-time investor and a daily trader without either feeling under- or over-served.
Order Book + Quick Trade Panel
A professional-grade order book sits beside a two-tap quick-trade panel, so depth and simplicity coexist on the same screen instead of competing.
Unified Component System
Every chart, card, and table was built once as a reusable component, letting the dev team ship new asset classes without a fresh design pass each time.
Design details
Under the hood
Typography
A geometric sans display face paired with tabular-figure numerals for price data, ensuring numbers align cleanly in dense tables.
Color palette
Components
30+ component design system covering charts, tables, cards, modals, and trade widgets.
Responsive design
The order-book + quick-trade split-panel collapses into a tabbed single-column view on mobile without losing either function.
The results
What it delivered
20+ screens in a fully interactive Figma prototype
30+ component design system
3 user journeys mapped and validated pre-development
Dual retail/professional UX from a single dashboard
A complete, developer-ready Figma prototype with 20+ screens, interactive components, and a scalable design system — positioning Alpha Innovate as a serious competitor in the DeFi investment space.
